Looks brilliant, I probably wont have time to get down to it which is a real shame.

African Textiles.

Here is a selection of fabric which I brought back from Africa, some of which will feature in the furniture which I 'm currently producing.

Exhibitions.

I'm going to be exhibiting my degree work in both Leeds and London over the summer.

In Leeds on the 10th June at Broadcasting House.

In London between the 8th and 11th of July at New Designers. www.newdesigners.com/ Which looks set to be a really exciting exhibition, and a look into the future of British design.

3D development.

Scale model made in the 3D Printer (Rapid prototype). Not the best photo, but gave me a good idea of how the finish product would look.

Legs modeled in foam.

Then Vac formed, leaving foam encapsulated inside.

Because the foam is hand modeled each leg is very slightly different, which relates back to the way in which stools in Africa are carved. This causes an interesting hybrid of techniques and materials. The Legs will then be backed with wood for support. This means of construction may well not be used in the final product but serves as a 3d full scale realisation of my design.

Manifold Tables

Interesting range of furniture that made me have a second look. Not sure how practical some of the designs are and looks in some cases like the idea has been stretched a bit too far. But the simplicity in the idea has clarity that shines through.

Shine Chair.

My entry into the "Seat 4 Shine" competition has been shortlisted down to the last three. The competition will now run until later in the year giving me more time to develop the design and a real chance of seeing the piece being put into production as a one off. There are images earlier in the blog but here is a photo of the exhibition and a press release.

The Phoenix chair is inspired by the movement and elegance of The Phoenix dance company.

The simple curves give the seat a sculptural beauty, which is uniquely developed for the Shine building.

Table For Sandele.

I've been working on a variation of my folding table for the Eco resort Sandele which is where I stayed whilst in The Gambia. It's a simplified version, made from as few pieces as possible, and will hopefully be easy and cheap to construct. With no need for the folding element of the table this shouldn't be hard to achieve. This is the first CAD model with full scale mock ups coming shortly.
